The Bachelor鈥檚 Program in Information Technology Management is built on the basis of the ECTS system. In order to obtain the qualification, a student must accumulate 180 credits, which constitute the total number of credits of compulsory and elective educational components of the relevant content of the core field of study included in the program, as well as free components.

A student accumulates 60 credits per academic year (30 credits per semester). Depending on the individual academic workload of the student, the annual number of credits may be less or more than 60 credits, but shall not exceed 75 credits.

The program provides 15 free credits, the accumulation of which, within the credits allocated for elective courses, the student may carry out either within the present program, within another academic educational program of the same level offered by the School of Informatics and Engineering or by the Georgian-American University, within an accredited academic educational program of the same level at another higher education institution in Georgia, or within an academic educational program of the same level at a foreign higher education institution, provided that such credits are recognized in accordance with the legislation of Georgia.

The Bachelor鈥檚 Program Curriculum is provided as an attached document: IT Management

Receiving/accumulating credits in the relevant educational component by the student assumes active participation in the teaching process and is based on the principle of continuous evaluation of acquired knowledge. The level of achievement of learning outcomes is assessed in accordance with the assessment system approved by the Order No. 3 of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia of January 5, 2007, 鈥淎bout the Rules for Calculating Credits in Higher Education Programs.鈥

Assessment of the level of achievement of learning outcomes includes assessment forms - intermediate and final assessment, the sum of which represents the final assessment - 100 points.

Assessment forms include an assessment component/components that determine the way to assess the student's knowledge/awareness and/or ability and/or autonomy/responsibility (verbal/written exam, verbal/written quiz, practical/theoretical work, homework, etc.). Assessment components combine assessment methods (test, presentation, etc.). The assessment method is measured by assessment criteria.

Each form and component of the assessment has a specific share of the total assessment score (100), which is reflected in the specific syllabus.

Each assessment form has a minimum competence threshold - at least 25 points for the intermediate assessment, at least 16 points for the final assessment.

A minimum competency threshold may also be set for the assessment component(s), which will be detailed in the course syllabus.

Credit cannot be awarded using only one form of assessment. Credit is awarded to the student in case of a positive assessment.

Program鈥檚 educational components assessment system:

The system has 5 types of Positive Assessment:

  • Excellent 鈥 91-100 points
  • Very Good 鈥 81-90 points
  • Good 鈥 71-80 points
  • Satisfactory 鈥 61-70 points
  • Sufficient 鈥 51-60 points

2 types of Negative Assessment:

  • (FX) Did not pass - 41-50 points, which means that the student needs more work in order to pass and, with independent work, is given the right to take the additional exam once.
  • (F) Failed - 40 points and less, which means that the work done by the student is insufficient, and they have to retake the course/subject.

To determine a student's final ranking and to encourage them, a cumulative grade point average (GPA)听is calculated at the end of the learning process.听

The cumulative grade point average is calculated as follows: the quantitative indicator of the grade received by the student in each course of study is multiplied by the number of credits allocated for that course of study, and then the total sum of these numbers is divided by the number of credits accumulated by the student.

  • If a student is entitled to multiple discounts (excluding the ranking (GPA-based), only one discount applies鈥攖he discount with the highest monetary value.
  • If a student is entitled to multiple discounts, including a ranking (GPA-based) discount, the ranking discount is applied in addition to one other discount. (Example: if a student is entitled to a 50% ranking discount and a 20% family member discount, first the 50% ranking discount is deducted from the amount charged for core course credits, and then 20% is deducted from the remaining amount as the family member discount).
  • Percentage-based discounts apply only to amounts charged for core 听course credits and do not apply to credits from additionally selected courses.
  • If one family member is charged for core course credits and another family member is charged only for additionally selected credits, the 20% family member discount applies only to the student charged for core course credits.
  • If one family member receives a discount exceeding 20%, the other family member is entitled to only a 20% family member discount.
